Chicago Cannabis Entrepreneur Survives Lehman Brothers Collapse and Scores Two Maryland Licenses

Windy City Cannabis ClubMaryland’s Medical Cannabis Commission released the 22 companies that secured 15 Grower and 15 Processor provisional licenses yesterday. Maryland Compassionate Care and Wellness LLC was one of the 7 to secure both types of licenses.  Its CEO, Steve Weisman, is also the CEO of Illinois-based Windy City Cannabis Club, which operates four dispensaries in the suburbs of Chicago.

Weisman’s LinkedIn profile indicates that he graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2008 and joined Lehman Brothers just before it went under. He then earned a JD  from the University of Chicago, working for two years at Kirkland & Ellis as an associate while earning his MBA from the University of Chicago in 2014.  He launched WCCC in early 2015.
