Colorado Cannabis Company Compliance Officer Hire Signals Industry Legitimacy

Laura Davis Good Chemistry

In late January, Good Chemistry, a leading cannabis retailer with stores in Denver and Aurora, added to its already impressive staff, naming Laura Davis as its Director of Compliance, a key position for a company operating in its industry.  The most interesting aspect to the hire was that Davis knew absolutely nothing about the cannabis industry professionally, though she certainly knew plenty about regulatory compliance.  Davis had worked at Ball Aerospace for over two decades, where she honed those skills, and she had also served on the State Board of Health.

Stephen Spinosa, vice president of retail operations for Good Chemistry, said hiring Davis brings a degree of seriousness to an industry that just a few years ago was mostly small mom-and-pop shops.

“We are running a legitimate business and we need legitimate people,” he said.
