How to Handle a Cannabis Recall

Hilary Bricken

Hilary Bricken takes a look at a hot topic:  Recalls.  In Denver, there were 15 different recalls during the last four months of 2015, the most recent of which consisted of almost 100K packages of edibles from Mountain High Suckers.  Concerns about pesticides have triggered the government-mandated recalls. Says Bricken:

If 2015 was the year of the marijuana recall, 2016 is going to be the year of marijuana recall response and planning. If your cannabis business does not already have a recall plan in place you are already behind the eight ball as the need to quickly pull cannabis products off the shelf is happening with increasing frequency.

Bricken counsels readers to craft a realistic plan to counter a recall or product-related litigation, sharing eleven steps to take now.  She also suggests a compliance audit and a mock recall as well to test the plan.
