Cannabis Reports CEO Calls Out Weedmaps and Leafly for Security Breaches

On the heels of Weedmaps having the authenticity of its reviews questioned by the L.A. Times, David Drake, CEO of Cannabis Reports and recently named to Marijuana Venture’s “40 under 40” list, is accusing the company and Leafly of having inadequate security. Speaking at an industry conference in Los Angeles last week, he criticized the two companies:

A lot of the information stored on these websites is completely open to the public and they are extremely irresponsible with the way they handle your data and personal information. Talking about this isn’t going to make me any friends, but I don’t care anymore. This is about making sure you and future generations are safe.

Drake, who took Leafly to task earlier this year when it abruptly shut down its API, explained that identifying information about the sites’ users is available within the browser and how private information is available to those who are more computer savvy.
