Illinois released sales figures for two months recently. The last time it had released data was in late January. The previous report had been for adult-use cannabis in May. The document in November explained that the switch to Metrc had been the cause of the lack of data. Here is the data updated through the end of February:

The state’s adult-use cannabis sales were down 5.1% sequentially in January to $110.7 million and then down 5.4% sequentially in the shorter month of February. The year-over-year growth was -21.0% in January and then 19.8% in February, a slight improvement from recent levels. Here is the chart of the adult-use sales over time:

After increasing 106% in 2021, 13% in 2022 and then 5% in 2023, year-to-date adult-use sales were up 5.4% in 2024 to $1.72 billion. In 2025, they were down 12.5% to $1.51 billion, which was below the total for 2022. Two months into 2026, adult-use sales have declined 20.4%.
There has been no update on medical cannabis from the state in a while. The state separately releases sales from its medical program, and the release for April showed that sales fell 1.6% sequentially to $19.7 million, which was down 13.2% from a year ago.
