Cresco Labs Continues Growth Recruiting from Big Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Companies

(Chicago, IL) With new markets planned to launch in the next two quarters, Illinois-based Cresco Labs continues to expand their executive team bringing on seasoned professionals from major healthcare and pharmaceutical companies.  The addition of their General Counsel with a decade at Stericycle, a Senior VP of Operations from Abbott Labs, and a VP of Supply Chain from Inventus Power appropriately aligns them as a leader in the rapidly growing cannabis industry.

Stericycle veteran John Schetz joins Cresco as General Counsel.  John combines experience in multiple industries including working at a large law firm and a multinational public company. John spent ten years at Stericycle, where he most recently he served as the EVP and General Counsel. In that role, he advised the CEO leading all aspects of a $2.3B acquisition. Prior to that, John worked as the Senior Counsel and Vice President at Stericycle.  Prior to that, John spent eight years as the Partner of Corporate development at McDermott Will & Emery LLP. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

With nearly 20 years of manufacturing, quality, and project management experience. Joe Ales joins Cresco as Senior Vice President of Operations. Joe has a proven track record of leadership and expertise in managing world class, lean, and scalable operations globally. Prior to joining Cresco Labs, Joe had various leadership roles at Abbott Labs and AbbVie. He ended his tenor at AbbVie as the Corporate Quality Manager responsible for maintaining the global product specification and global quality system documents for all of AbbVie’s products worldwide, supporting 13 global manufacturing plants and 57 affiliates. Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

Jim Amend joins Cresco as the Vice President of Supply Chain.  In this role, Jim will provide the leadership to create a world class supply base and the development of organizational procurement strategy. Prior to joining Cresco, Jim was the Vice President of Global Supply Chain for Inventus Power where he provided strategic control for the vertically integrated manufacturer with six production facilities supporting over $420 million in revenue and over 2,000 employees. He earned his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Operations Management from DePaul University and his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University.
