One of the most interesting panels at the recent New West Summit was a presentation by Dr. Jonathan Cachat of Fleurish Farms about new sunlight capture cultivation technology that Fleurish Farms is applying to the cannabis industry, DSS SunGrown Indoor™, which we first wrote about in August. The company has created and tested a hybrid solution to growing that has the advantages of growing indoors but at a dramatically lower cost due to the use of natural sunlight that is converted into lighting and supplemented by Heliospectra LEDs. The technology, pictured below, involves using cylinders to capture the sunlight, transfer and control it and then deliver it uniformly to the plants, a solution that differs greatly from hybrid greenhouses with glass roofing.

For those that weren’t in attendance at his presentation, which inspired a great amount of interest and inquiry from those who were, Dr. Cachat will  be hosting a free webinar to discuss over a year’s worth of research on how to apply natural sunlight to indoor grows. The results, backed by scientific data, include an 80% reduction in electricity, minimal water usage and improved product quality. He will discuss the technology and the research that took place in their California facilities and supports adoption of the technique. The free webinar will take place on Thursday, October 27th at 2:15 PDT/5:15 EDT.
