Illinois released its cannabis sales data much later than it normally does again. Illinois adult-use cannabis sales in May were up 1.2% sequentially to a $146.2 million, which was down slightly on a per-day basis from the shorter April, which also had 4/20. The gain was 10.1% from a year ago:

After increasing 106% in 2021, 13% in 2022 and then 5% in 2023, year-to-date adult-use sales are up 9.4% in 2024 to $709.0 million. During May, sales to non-residents were 22.6%:

The state separately releases sales from its medical program, and the release for May was published in early June. Sales fell 2.6% sequentially to $24.4 million, which was down 11.1% from a year ago:

For May, combined adult-use and medical sales were $170.6 million, increasing 0.6% sequentially despite an extra day during the month and up 6.5% from a year ago:

Total sales of $1.96 billion in 2023 were up 3% from 2022. So far in 2024, sales have increased 6% from the start of 2023.
