Job Opportunities Continue to Proliferate in the Cannabis Industry

Exclusive Look at Open Cannabis Job Opportunities at Aurora Cannabis, GTI, and KushCo

Federal legalization of cannabis went live in Canada on October 17. Cannabis companies – licensed producers, consumer product companies, distribution companies, and ancillary companies – are eager to ramp up hiring in an effort to support the industry’s meteoric growth. While a timeline for federal legalization in the United States remains uncertain, companies are also flourishing and expanding in states with a legal framework. The cannabis business, for many people, is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Qualified candidates from all sorts of other professional industries are flocking to the challenge and growth of the cannabis space. Here are three open positions in the industry.

Government Relations Manager – Ontario at Aurora

Aurora Cannabis (TSX: ACB) (NYSE: ACB) is a large, vertically integrated cannabis company with approximately 1,500 employees, five corporate offices, 11 production facilities, and a funded capacity of 500,000 kilograms. The company is hiring a Government Relations Manager in Toronto, Ontario. In Ontario, the company has three facilities that employ a total of more than 300 people. This role will help support developing further relationships and growth in the province.

The Aurora Team

The person in this role will join Aurora’s Government and Community Relations team, which has 10 staff members across Canada, and report directly to the National Director of Government Relations. The Government Relations Manager will be involved in advocating for progressive cannabis policies through developing lobbying strategies, writing government relations content, participating in industry organizations, and more. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of experience in a similar role, and prior knowledge of the cannabis industry is an advantage.

Aurora offers a competitive compensation package, health and dental insurance, and RSP matching. While the company is one of the largest in the industry and still growing, Aurora strives to maintain an entrepreneurial culture that honors its smaller roots.

Director, Retail Operations at GTI

The vertically integrated cannabis company Green Thumb Industries (GTI) is hiring a Director of Retail Operations at its Chicago headquarters. The company currently has 14 retail locations and licenses for 59. The Director of Retail Operations will work directly with Vice President of Retail Jennifer Barry to hone the company’s retail strategy.

The GTI Team Out in Chicago

Green Thumb Industries (CSE: GTII) (OTC: GTBIF) is adding the position because of its rapidly growing scale. The company wants to solidify its vision now to make the process of opening the rest of its licensed stores seamless. The ideal candidate for the Director of Retail Operations role will have the skills to quickly gain product knowledge and understand consumer engagement. The right candidate needs a high level of understanding of the technology, like point-of-sale systems, used in the retail space and the ability to effectively communicate with internal teams, regional teams, and consumers. As the person in this role grows with the company, there will be an opportunity to take on more direct reports and move into more senior positions, potentially at the VP level.

The company is growing across the entire brand. At the beginning of the year, GTI employed 177 people. As of Oct. 30, the company’s team is at more 400 employees. People who work at GTI have benefits including health, medical, dental, and unlimited paid time off. Plus, the company fosters a culture of open collaboration. Every Monday, employees at any level of the company can take advantage of CEO Ben Kovler’s open door policy. Plus, GTI encourages a “culture of compliment.” Everyone at the company recognizes their big and small wins together.

Product Lifecycle Project Management at KushCo

KushCo Holdings (OTC: KSHB), recently rebranded from Kush Bottles to reflect its more diversified business model, is seeking to fill a Product Lifecycle Project Management position. The company’s portfolio of products and services includes packaging, supplies, accessories, branding services, gas and solvents, and more. Headquartered in Garden Grove, California, KushCo is 225 employees strong and growing.

KushCO Office

The company is seeking to fill the Product Lifecycle Project Management position in response to a high volume of projects that need to be managed in order to meet customer expectations. The role’s responsibilities include leading customization projects, developing relationships across the company’s various internal functions, and overseeing customer initiatives related to customized projects. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of project management experience under his or her belt. The company also requires Project Manager Professional (PMP) certification. The person in this role will be supporting a sales staff of more than 50 employees.

KushCo offers its employees company shares, benefits, and the opportunity to grow with the company. The company aims to create a culture of collaboration and positive energy.
