Licensed Canadian Cannabis Companies Hire Lobbyists to Fight Illegal Dispensaries

Following a recent public request by their trade association, the CMCIA, to the Canadian government to take action regarding the rapid proliferation of federally illegal cannabis dispensaries, the licensed producers are stepping up their efforts to persuade the government to crack down.  According to Vice News, MedReleaf has enlisted Toronto-based firm The CCS Group to lobby on its behalf.  Canopy Growth, the largest licensed producer, has hired Ensign Canada.

Police forces need to get involved in shutting them down. There’s no two ways about it.

The Canadian Association of Medical Cannabis Dispensaries (CAMCD), a not-for-profit corporation established to promote a regulated community-based approach to medical cannabis access that provides certification to dispensaries, suggests that it lobby the government as well, seeking to extend the distribution from beyond the companies licensed by Health Canada.
